Car accidents are on the rise in states where marijuana is legal (IIHS - Insurance Institute of Highway Safety). Collision claims filed are 6% higher in CO, NV and WA then the neighboring states where MJ is illegal (NTSB). There is a call right now for the NHTSA to develop oral fluid screening devices for roadside testing. There is a public company who could be a beneficiary if someone wants to research OSUR. As for roadside testing, we know there is money behind private and public companies developing MJ breathalyzers. Of course the issue is what will be measured and what will the measurements mean. I think recreational legalization may not be a wonderful experiment. 46% of accidents in 2015 had drug impaired drivers. That numbers was 22% ten years earlier, for an increase of 30% (NTSB).
