Telling comment on SA from a brand new investor. His broker sold him GOV and said "what could be safer than government leases." No question brokers love these ultra high yield stocks because they're easy to sell to newbies, especially retirees.
GOV is a perfect example of what can go wrong when investors focus on showy yield numbers and not what's under the hood. In this case the word "government" added to the false trust.
Several SA posters agree that RMR, the manager of GOV, has a poor reputation for unfair dealing. You might expect that with a tiny operation but GOV was fairly large.
