I don't find any reason for that.

Boyd want's rule the company. He definitely want's Odidi out as a CEO. He can do this only by buying shares. Not warrants. It would be the most foolish thing in his position to pay for these warrants but not getting power to vote with the invested money. Warrants are not shares. Even when there has been made full payment for them.
