Only thing I'm contemplating is how to make the best of the future tax situation.
Since tmdi is a pfic (as was communicated on this board, how do you verify?) and filling out form irs 8621 will allow you to treat the invest as a QEF for long term cap gains rate, how do you do this for years past?
I've owned since 2016, have not elected to make a QEF. Looking at for 8621 it appears your can list it as qef for multiple years. Is that possible?
Or
Do I need to sell my 20,000 shares this year, take the massive loss, rebuy and file qef on the new shares purchased? Can I sell then rebuy in 2018 or do I need to sell in 2018 then buy in 2019.... confused!!!
