Haha, I remember reading how Welch said the objective of every department at GE was to make, or save, money - even their in-house Tax Department was to work on ways to pay zero to little tax in the face of huge profits. Now the Tax Dept can do it the old fashioned way - losses.

Welch did a helluva job picking his successor, though. Immelt was a complete and unequivocal disaster.
