Bilirubin Removal Using CytoSorb-India Case

Nice to see there are still case studies coming out of India. This one was published yesterday.

Bilirubin Removal Using CytoSorb Filter in a Cardiac Surgical Patient
Ajmer Singh, MD, Yatin Mehta, MD, MNAMS, FRCA, Naresh Trehan, MD

Acute liver failure with hyperbilirubinemia after cardiac surgery can be a life-threatening complication. Several novel adsorber materials have been developed that aim to remove the protein-bound and high-molecular–weight toxins from the patient's blood. We report a case of a 63-year-old woman who was admitted with severe mitral stenosis (mitral valve area 0.8 cm2, mean transvalvular gradient 22 mmHg); severe tricuspid regurgitation; severe pulmonary hypertension (systolic pulmonary artery pressure 77 mmHg); and right ventricular dysfunction.
