"I'll share a favorite principle that applies especially to RNVA: Study the SEC filings by reading from the back forward and focusing especially on the footnotes. Study the risk factors the auditor lists. Research the CPA. Every one of my stocks is audited by a Big Four, but sound 2nd tier auditors are ok in moderation. Read and understand the filings, and re-read them.

No system is foolproof. Most years one or two qualifying exchange-listed stocks out of thousands blow out (like Enron did in 2002). But by diversifying sensibly, my funds have thrived in good times and bad."
