I know. He is occupied with that BS WP plugin that doesn't bring any profit, only work, and, with acquisitions that doesn't bring any profit, only investment.

He is an IT guy, and, usually IT guys are not practical guys. They live in the clouds, they have lots of theories, that's why they are good at creating software, programs, etc. They are creative people.

Someone with experience of the practical side of business needs to tell him what to do to begin to make money.

1 - Hire two or three guys with some experience with sales, but, not too old. Experience, so they are not affraid of that kind of work, contact with clients, negotiate, social contact. Not much young, because young people needs a lot of time to learn and gain experience. Also, sometimes they are shy. Not old, so they still have enough motivation, and, they are allowed to learn new technologies easier. Someone in the 27 - 35 yo.

2 - Give these guys very good and intensive training.

3 - Give them a car for professional and private use, and, competitive salary, fixed basis + commisions.

4 - Give them margin to negotiate themselves the prices, so they can close a deal even without contacting the company. Of course the minimum prices are stipulated by the company, so they know they cannot go below that price.

5 - Motivate and support them on a daily basis, giving them material and means to use to get clients. Databases of companies, contacts, possible contact persons, etc.

This is what I would do. I had similar conditions when I began to work. I worked in sales, and, after a few years, I trained sales teams, first I worked for Ford Motor Company, and, then for VW/Audi Group.

In 1997, I quit to dedicate myself to the stock market, full time.
