the problem is more corrosive than wear related.



These problem levels are relative. Tower was saying standard acceptance of problematic levels was 7ppb when it starts causing problems at the implant site but noticeable neurological problematic levels was 4ppb.

I'd agree with corrosion but wear particulate increases surface area for corrosion.

conversion to a more chemically-stable form can increase wear particulate and weaken the material properties of an implant, Whether you want to call this corrosion. Looks like what they where looking into on aluminum oxide implant failure here before throwing the whole project in the trash and going full SiNi.
