On a scale of 1 to 10 how much influence do you think the state leaders have over the permitting process of the DNR and other governmental agencies? Is Tom Landwehr the last one to sign off on the approval of the permit to mine or is he beholden to Mark Dayton who appointed him?

What can Amy, Tina or Democrats do to impede progress to delay the permit release until after elections? or is it all just back channel conspiracy stuff? I'm willing to admit that there are some favors done but with the possibility of lawsuits threatened by envior groups or Poly I'd imagine this will be done by the book as much as possible.

If Republicans have something to gain, shouldn't they be holding the Dems to the fire on this or pushing harder for the release of the permits? Or is there another angle that I'm not seeing here.

My opinion is that the DNR will do this as much to the book as possible to try to wash their hands of it. They do not want to be pulled into year long lawsuits if people were greasing palms to advance to impede the process.

The land swap is complete and the permit to mine would not be released until that component done.

I'd love to hear your comments on this post. Thanks.
