The fire seems to be out, as far as TRON's concerned. There were all kinds of obvious things wrong with the PR, but naturally many people preferred to overlook them. The wire service the faker chose, Newsfile Corp, is Canadian. Perhaps that's a clue to the identity of our perp, or perhaps not.
The release itself contained a wrong phone number for the company, and the text was extremely brief for what purported to be the news TRON longs have been waiting for for, I think, a year now. In addition, there were no quotes officers of InMed, the company supposedly being acquired.
So it was actually a poor job of fakery, but some only opened their eyes when Fred Bauman informed callers that TRON had not issued any PRs. Probably it was he who directed Newsfile Corp to issue the Notice to disregard.
Bauman said Ortiz Morentin, the CEO who is quoted in the PR, is in Spain at the moment.
