That is par for the course on Gregg collecting Trade Show Business Cards. Kind of funny. Well, this MWC Americas is a huge show. I spent most of my time with the other CBRS Alliance Vendors, but yesterday got to finally walk around. Vendors were using a Barcode Scanner to collect vistor lists from the Trade Show ID Cards. Then for me, its always kind of like a Tech Holloween collecting all the marketing freebies. The big 4 Carriers were all talking more of the 5G rollout plans for next year. People were a little miffed that we didnt see much from several of the Phone Mfg including Apple.

There were a lot of the IOT Vendors all demonstrating a push for getting some newer Network Elements into the various Core Networks. Security was the hottest topic. Apparently a number of midsized Wireless Internet Service Prividers (WISPs) have been hit with Cyber Attacks badly. So various new startups were demonstrating virtualized network security functions. There has been this huge push to have all the various systems in the network cores to all be able to be run from a Virtual Machine or the newer Docker Container stuff.

IoT connectivity... way too many vendors not much to differentiate on stuff. Here it really came down to which emerging specifications they were going to design towards. Qualcomm had some killer demos though on their new SnapDragon IC. The buzz was on having a new round of Fixed Wireless in peoples homes. They were demoing a full 1gig video stream. So the battle is brewing between the Wireless Side of things and the Legacy Cable Companies. It was a cool little box like a Roku IP Video Device with a 5G radio and Wifi. Verizon and AT&T are both making moves with this stuff.

Nobody was talking anything about 2G or 3G.
