OT: Chipped2003: that last projected path looks like it will hit north of Wilmington for this reason. It will hit the "Gulf Stream" just a bit further West of the projected path right now and hopefully it, while continuing West, will start a futher move North. Now having said that - projecting huricaines is a crap-shoot times 10square. Worst than me picking stocks I fall in love with!
Living in Beaufort, South Carolina and about five feet above a very high tide, I take more than an interest in these storms. The Gulf Stream locally is 165 miles out form the coast so it sends most storms further North plus we're sorta tucked in as the coast goes. Nevertheless we still get a few storms.
Let's hope this crap turns abit north. We'll know in a few days.
I know what you are feeling (the adrenalin is on high output)
If you got my email to you regarding my brother in Wilmington, give him a call. He's a marine surveyor and storms a big interest to him businesswise. When he works for Loyds of London he gets a "weather report" thur them which is $200 each report but it is fantastically accurate.
I think it's still too early even for them to tell but a few days from now will be different.
Best - again your welcome to come to Beaufort, SC.
Take care - Rick
