Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola and many (but not all) soft drinks contains substantial amounts of Phosphoric acid. Unfortunately, the only way the body can excrete excess phosphorous is in the form of calcium phosphate. Thus, when excess phosphorous need to be discharged, the good old body looks around for calcium, find some in the bones and discharge it with the phosphorous. Result, depletion of calcium and eventually osteoporosis.
