Twenty-foot storm surge expected from Florence: Reports
Hurricane Florence projected to wreak havoc on the Carolina coast, may sit and spin By Intellihub.com - September 10, 2018
Reports circling on the interweb suggest that Hurricane Florence may impact the U.S. East Coast as a Category 4 with winds in excess of 130 miles per hour and a storm surge of over 15 feet.
The coastline in which Florence is expected to impact has a continental shelf which is less than 150 feet deep that’s expected to add to the force of the storm.
A 20 plus foot surge is expected in the region of the Carolinas, as Wunderground.com reports.
Excessive flooding will be a factor aside from the high winds which will add to the danger.
