You're kidding, right?

If you can't hold an investment for one year, then you're not an investor. You're a trader.

Traders don't like to hold anything for more than a few months at a time...and they usually lose all of their capital within a few years.

Investors on the other hand, buy shares of a promising company and watch their investment multiply over a period of 1 - 5 years.

If it doesn't produce within that period of time, they re-evaluate their investment strategy and make a decision to stay or reinvest somewhere else.

That's my two cents.
