Some very impressive graphics on how plate tectonics work on earth. The overall thesis is good, but the author plays way too loose with the timing of the events, which are separated by hundreds of millions of years in some instances. For example the coal measures are about 350 million years old. The geological record shows that we have experienced a number of large scale extinctions since life started some 2 billion years ago, all caused by catastrophic events that range from ice ages to asteroids. As climate changes from frigid to hot to frigid again various fauna and creatures get wiped out and renewed or replaced by others that are more adaptable to the new conditions--basic science, my dear Watson.

Now, if we could get the misinformed politicians to accept that the only constant in earth's climate and history has been, and will always be, CHANGE, we could stop the nonsense about our being able to 'fix' the current changes in climate change and spend our tax dollars on preparing for the changes that are going to come regardless of carbon taxes.

Our current climate has a long way to go before it reaches the temperatures at the time of the Roman invasion of Britain or the Vikings discovery of America during an ice-free period in the North Atlantic around 1000 AD.
The only constant in the past 10,000 years has been gold--keep stacking rain or shine.
