Obama Admin Rehired Guy Who Defrauded Vet Of $680K, But Then Trump Entered The Picture

In 2016 the administration of then-President Barack Obama rehired a con man who’d sought to defraud an elderly veteran of $680,000.
It wasn’t until President Donald Trump stepped into office the following year that con man Kenneth Richard Devore was booted from the administration and charged by the Department of Justice.

According to a press release published by the DOJ late last month, Devore had in 2015 been a field examiner for the DOV Affairs — the Obama administration had hired him to work with veterans — when he was assigned to manage the finances of an elderly veteran who’d been declared disabled.

Instead of taking care of the guy’s finances, Devore tricked him into thinking he needed a will.
The con man then drafted the will for the unnamed veteran and “deceptively inserted his own name as the sole beneficiary of the veteran’s financial bank accounts and investments, which totaled over $680,000.”

When the VA became aware of the forged document — the press release doesn’t provide specifics on this — it forced Devore to resign and go away, because to hell with actually holding him accountable, apparently.

“Shortly thereafter, in early 2016, he applied for a position as an investigator for the National Background Investigations Bureau, an agency within the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) that conducts investigations for positions of public trust and security clearances,” the DOJ specified.

In his application Devore failed to disclose his resignation from the VA and falesly claimed to have received a college degree from Canterbury University, which doesn’t even exist.

And given as the Obama administration was the most incompetent administration in American history, of course it rehired the con man.

He remained at the gig until Trump stepped into office.

Then came judgement day: “Devore was indicted in February 2017 after the Veterans Administration Office of Inspector General began an investigation into his behavior,” Reason magazine noted, citing a statement from government spokesperson Sharry Dedman-Beard.

Dedman-Beard also confirmed that Devore never actually obtained the unnamed veteran’s money. Thankfully, the Obama administration at least managed to prevent that from happening.

Now fast forward to July 25, when a federal jury convicted Devore of a slew of charges that together carry a maximum penalty of decades in prison. He’ll be sentenced Nov. 5. Case cased, right? Not exactly.

There’s a bit more to the story. The DOJ also discovered that Devore had been fraudulently collecting disability checks from the Obama administration since 2009. His conviction last month also applied to these charges as well.

It’s unclear whether Devore would have ever been brought to justice had failed Democrat presidential nominee and lifelong criminal Clinton won the 2016 presidential election instead of Trump.
