This is really quite a big deal, hence the reason Apple is fighting so hard. Apple is going to owe VHC even more money the longer they try to drag this out. However, their appeal likely will not even be heard due to FOUR decisions already made by juries. To add even more sauce to this, VHC is HEAVILY shorted. Almost 25% as of two weeks ago. The icing on this cake is that even after Apple pays the judgement, if they want to continue using FaceTime and IM, they will need to pay licenseing to VHC... VHC is going to be a CASH COW!! Excellent entry point.
