the true silver lining in a stock split is the idea that the market might actually be manipulated....that the market capitalization of the corporation goes up (even if there is no 'good' reason for it) - This is an example of a market inefficiency and therein lies a potential for profit

a stock split serves the traders, analysts, value investors - anyone that is taking a clear headed approach to this, it has the potential to benefit anyone that can see clearly that two $5's is no better than a $10

i guess, given enough time and financing, increased market capitalization does help a corporation, especially one that has need for more capital - i guess eventually it helps out the buy and holder...


Buying low, selling high is a tough way to make free money, this is easier.
