As regards what exactly land banks
are, I think (but do not know) that it is more than a new name for an oil company that is building a portfolio of properties. My guess, which I'll have to pursue later, is that some management types in some high brow MBA type setting (professor types or folks who make a living publishing articles and the like) have coined the phrase and it is something "trendy" that is more than just an accumulation of properties. I'm certain there is more to it, but I have not had the time to dig it out. A land bank is something specific and kind of clever or something of the sort. IMHO of course.
