Joking aside, each case is different. I've seen plenty of times where a stock drops 20%, wipes out all the stop losses, people get cheap shares, and the stop recovers same day or next. Those with the stop loss get hosed.
On the other hand, if you believe a stock is going to take HUGE, I see nothing wrong with a trailing stop loss here at $1. I mean, if this goes under $1 something very bad has happened. Could I see a negative rumor dropping us near there only to bounce back when we discover it was rumor not reality - you bet.
