Nature made fibers always seem to have properties that synthetic fibers lack and visa versa. Breathability is one. I know cotton outfits are way more comfortable on muggy days than a polyester or nylon outfit. And synthetics will have properties that are superior to nature made. My synthetic shirts dry way faster than my cotton shirts, but it is also a static magnet. And with my sleeping bag, down feathers are great for warmth and compression, but when wet they are not as good. But synthetic insulation will keep you warm even when wet, but synthetic insulation is heavier and more bulky.
Trade offs.

There will be a market for a stronger pure silk that can be put in the washing machine. I have never heard them talk about something like this, but I assume if DS can stop a bullet, it can still be silky soft and make it through a wash and dry cycle in a standard washing/drying machine.

A real silk shirt that does not need "dry cleaning only" or "hand wash" or "gentle cycle only" or "line dry only" I assume would make some people very happy. Maybe not the dry cleaners though.
