I don’t think mgmt really kept this cash raise a secret, if you call the company and ask to be on the list for direct placements they will tell you what is available. I think it would be odd to put out PR’s stating that they are looking for direct placement cash, even if it was a direct call/email to investors it would be odd. A long time ago, before Nader, the ceo (Van Ness) had the IR guy calling investors for direct investment. At the time I thought it sounded really sketchy and ultimately did not work.
