I counted 11 15" x 15" shoot pack PANELS not 11 pieces of DS fabric.

These 11 DS panels contain multiple layers of tightly woven DS fabric sewn together. The black stitching with frayed edges shows this and the stitching becomes the outside cut line used a a guide for cutting the uniform size of the panels after the layers are sewn together.

What we don't know is how many layers of tightly woven DS fabric is sewn into these 11 panels. Ballistics testing @ Warwick probably determined the optimal # of layers. DS silk yarn is 30-40% thinner in diameter than conventional silk and even finer than Kevlar yarn. This fineness is one of the problems that created the reeling delay.

Your Kevlar shoot pack picture is comparing apples to oranges -IMO. It is also a primary driver behind the Army's continuing interest in woven DS fabric for shootpacks and other applications.
