gfp: Well, I am way over weighted in precious metals. And I'm underwater for sure. But I'm not bailing on them. Not with bond yield having nowhere to go but up, and the stock market at these lofty manipulated highs. Gold is never going to zero. And foreign governments continue to stockpile gold. We're either going to see run-a-way inflation at some point, or an economic collapse. Real estate prices in many high prices locales are dropping. If that trend catches on in less lofty markets we have another mortgage default problem heading our way.
I may look to buy a parcel of land to build on in western N.Carolina. Land is almost always a good investment. I've been scanning the real estate websites like Realtor.co and Redfin. I've seen some nice 1 acre parcels with a view for under $60 K near Waynesville, NC. I may head up there in the late fall.
I've taken a new job....working from home. Only one drawback, I have to stay in Texas. But that works for now, especially with my wife's job paying so well. Five years and we could be done being tax slaves.
