Hi Roni,
My daughter got a Nano for her birthday (ooooh all those pretty colours :O) and gave her Sansa to her little brother.. (She cracked the display but he doesn't care). She put a small library on the Nano .. no real docs (just a little quick start card) with it but docs available online as pdfs... not all that clear really. Anyway when she went to add more songs she zapped her library... imagine her dismay.. but oh well she thought .. I still have the tunes on the Nano.. I can probably copy them back.. (she had done a lot of manual editing since most were not tagged).. No way Jose !! Apple iTunes is a one way street. imagine if you bought hundreds of iTunes and ripped hundreds of songs from Cds.. OUCH!!! ? Now you cannot add any new music without losing what you have... I know, you need a back up. but what if my house is broken into and my stuff stolen.. Apple official policy is tough luck. (Yes a little begging they might been able to restore the iTunes purchases for you).. but nothing you got elsewhere... Also you need itunes to load any tunes on.. I know that they reduce each song file to a 4 or 5 digit code and relate it with a database file..

Now really just how hard would it have been for Apple to provide a restore mechanism... a few lines of code ? That's real cheesy IMO... I'd expect that from Mr. Softee..

Also my kid (she was with her grandparents.. you know older people that still expect some honesty from computer salesman LOL) So my kid asks the sales guy.. how do you get the tunes on the Nano ? is it hard ? No it's easy just like any other mp3 player !!!!! What a crock (as Sexton would say).. Why didn't he tell her you NEED iTunes.. She was thinking in terms of ease and flexibility of her the Sansa.

anyway I found a solution in a Nano form.. no thanks to Apple..
And man were there some sorry tales of woe there of tunes totally lost.. Also there is 3 party software you can buy to restore... I say again pretty cheesey of Apple to not include this feature..

The unit is nice enough though I will say. My kid likes it and has learned a valuable lesson to boot...
For me I'm very happy with my 4gig Sansa. Actually the Nano's control was a no go for me, maybe my hand size but my daughter manipulates it easily.
