The point I was conveying is that there is growing concern amongst officials on both sides of the border questioning the viability of saliva testing.

Canada's decision to use the Dräger 5000 is old news. It has been made abundantly clear come December police in Canada will be conducting saliva tests that can only detect prior use. 

The decision to use it, does not conclude the technology is superior, or its a cure all. The Issues with it are well known, including, varying sensitivity between occasional and chronic pot smokers, difficulties of use in extreme cold and not to mention it's invasive nature, imo will be the Achilles heel...

the process for testing high drivers in Canada is flawed and will likely lead to many false-positives and lawsuits.

Officials in the US and Canada are simply using the tools available to them at this time.
