“The new study shall include two animal models”...

I found this info on pre-clinical trials:
The information collected from these studies is vital so that safe human testing can begin. Typically, in drug development studies animal testing involves two species.

So, if I understand this, the two animals are required prior to trials on humans (Phase 1?).
