Saint Louis University adds Amazon Alexa devices to student living spaces

Saint Louis University announced on Twitter Thursday that it is the first college or university to add Amazon.com Inc. AMZN, +1.41% Alexa-enabled devices to student living spaces, including dorm rooms. Every room will have an Echo Dot ready for fall by late August, with 2,300 in resident hall rooms and student apartments total, according to an Amazon AWS release. The devices will be equipped with Saint Louis University-specific information. In the clip accompanying the announcement, a student is seen asking Alexa to "call mom" or let him know where the student center is. Amazon shares have rallied 63.3% for the year to date while the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.07% is up 7% for the period.
