Patrick Johnson did not "thrive" in the NFL. HIs stats were extremely mediocre and pedestrian. He was a 5th or 6th receiver his entire career, and bounced around from team to team and even from team to team in the CFL.

And the skill set of a professional athlete is far, far, FAR from the skills needed to run a public company. Skills which Patrick Johnson does not have.
