just a guess, but i would say that the short fall in the retiree benefit claim amount of lawsuit, and the actual amount in the trust short roughly 500 million would be paid out of the lawsuit fund. that is what it is there to cover those litigations arising form the BK, i hope i am wrong, but that would pretty much wipe out all the money in that acct. leaving us with next to nothing, which AAL wasn't gonna get that money anyway, it would only go to shareholders or those that won cases against AA in regards to BK claims. which may explain why both parties agree to it so easily, lawsuit was paid, AA put it behind tham, retirees happy they get benefits promised. however shareholder will get empty bag. again i hope i am wrong but that is how i am reading it
