How are those different than the papers, memos and reports Madoff and his friends were issuing all in accordance with SEC regs (I'm not saying these guys are crooks, but I am niggled by the lack of ... "contingent communication.")? Much more transparency would make me much less niggled. I'm also aware that, for whatever reasons, the two most active communicators, Ascolese and Powers, have opted for different pursuits.

Call it my conservatism or my baseline market paranoia, but what's also coming up these days for me is Balzac's observation: "Behind every great fortune is a great crime." I'd say the billions these guys are amassing to manage is a great fortune.
