You are spot on recognizing that competition is of significant concern. The article mentions Pluristem but there are at least 4 others that were mentioned in a previous article some of which have the financial strength to carry their research to commercialization a lot sooner.
But there are other reasons to be concerned as well. I've listed them in several prior posts over the past month.

Right now its a big crap shoot with the market confirming that.
