Dem Rep. Adam Smith blatantly LIED during interview claiming ’12 indicted Russians had REGULAR CONTACT with Trump campaign officials’ (Video)

Left-wing Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., went on Fox News‘ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to make an incredible claim about the 12 Russian GRU agents recently indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller for 2016 election “meddling.”

Recall that last Friday, when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein — acting on POTUS Donald Trump’s orders — announced the indictments, he was clear that no Americans were involved in any of the allegations against those Russian intelligence officials.

“The conspirators corresponded with several Americans through the internet. There is no allegation in the indictment that the Americans knew they were communicating with Russian intelligence officers,” Rosenstein said.

He added: “There is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy altered the vote count or changed any election result.”

So why would Smith claim on Carlson’s show that the 12 Russian officers were in regular contact with Trump campaign officials in a way that makes it appear as though a) that is even true and b) that it was all done as some sort of collusion conspiracy?

“The crime is they hacked into our DNC server and did a whole bunch of other disinformation campaigns to try to influence our election. A foreign power tried to do that. Also in this indictment, it shows that the twelve Russian operatives had regular contact with high-ranking Trump officials,” he claimed.

Really? Because if that were true, then why wasn’t Rosenstein announcing indictments of Trump campaign figures?



Smith is a member of the House Armed Services Committee; he’s not on the House Intelligence Committee. So how would he know what’s contained in the indictments other than what Rosenstein announced?
As The Gateway Pundit notes:

This was just a blatant lie by Adam Smith trying desperately to link the Trump campaign to Russia… Something that Democrats, Mueller and the liberal media have been unable to do after a year-and-a-half of investigating.

What Mueller’s team did say was that someone in “regular contact with senior members” of Trump’s campaign communicated with the Russian agents. Roger Stone wrote 24 words to Guccifer 2.0. He suspects this junk accusation is about him. Roger Stone and EVERYONE in the US had NO IDEA Guccifer 2.0 was a Russian.


Can you say “desperate?”

Mueller doesn’t have “collusion” because there wasn’t any. As for this particular set of indictments, he’s not even handling the cases. He passed them off to a division of the Justice Department where cases go to die.

Not that the disgustingly dishonest establishment media — or Democrats like Adam Smith — will tell anyone that.

As WSHU reported:

But Rosenstein said that responsibility for this prosecution — which is unlikely to go forward to a trial in court as Russia is unlikely to extradite the suspects who have been charged — would pass from Mueller’s office to the national security division of the Justice Department.

The National Security Division doesn’t do prosecutions; they do counterintelligence.

Any lib DEM who still thinks there’s ‘something to this Trump-Russia collusion’ needs counseling.
