I agree on all points, and Cyrus's reluctance to take a haircut is outweighing their wisdom.

I am a bit surprised that whoever's backing EK in the new (ad)venture hasn't gone around the deal, directly to Colbeck. That suggests to me that Cyrus is partnering with EK.

I estimate that it would take $30-40M to keep the lights on and turn both Overland and Tandberg around, in addition to the $18-20M to get out of jail with Colbeck. It would also take some talented management with considerable commitment to the industry. The necessary cutbacks would bruise EK's ego/legacy right out of existence so I can't see it working under his, uh, leadership.

Nevertheless, Cyrus may think they can pull it off. In any case, it won't be under ANY and PT Barnum's purvue. The twitching of the corpse will most likely be hidden within a private company.
