I think you're right. TU. Totally improper for financial research/reports to use silly abreviations such as M or MM. M can mean thousand or million. MM is also often used to mean millions. Varies by industry and country.

What's so hard about writing out "Million" like below?

From a recent report on DDD:
"With that, I would like to provide an overview of the first quarter before John provides more detail on our financial results. We are pleased with our revenue in the first quarter with growth in printers, healthcare, software and on-demand manufacturing. During the first quarter, total revenue increased 6% to $165.9 million.
