I opened my account with Fidelity last week and have had a 'zero' balance, NTVA shares will from TA will be my first contribution. So I have had no issue with 'zero' and know of no minimum.

FYI - I could not get Ameritrade to transfer the shares in...even though I can buy and sell NTVA. Silly! Some say it's wise to always have two firms...guess I'll see how this works out.
