oh, absolutely...he has first out advantage...and unless there are folks out there already designing similiar style systems....he can capture a good portion of that segment (planes not already retrofitted or about to be fitted with IFE).

Has anyone done a basic analysis of how many planes do not have IFE systems installed....? That would be our first most obvious target.....not that an existing plane might not want these....if consumers demand it (for the 1st run movies maybe??)

Also, assuming the $1000 price is managed somehow, I can see this as a more general rented device. Small hotels that do not have TV PayPerView systems (do they exist..lol), vacation spots, perhaps even education venues. The cost can come down pretty darn quickly if the ad revenues seriously counter the cost of the machine.
