If you do your investing on-line, you will not need to call your broker to place an order. Just put in a GTC sell order where you would like to have an execution. If you have a lot of stock you may want to put in several orders. This is a way of locking up your shares so that the MMs cannot borrow in order to short this stock. This is called LOCK-UP.
