RCKS - there is "no use" of Bollinger Bands applied to cumulative Net Advance-Decline lines by other technicians in recent years that has been visible to me. I have let John Bollinger know what I am doing with my customized settings for %B and Bollinger Bands when applied to A-D lines.
I became highly motivated during the process of learning about A-D line analytical tools from another technician in the 2002 to 2010 time period to determine on my own what he was missing in his analysis package which consistently led him to accept 8% to 20% profit drawdowns when either having a trading bias for a continued decline or trading bias for a continued advance.
I came up with the specific settings of 21,2 and 50,2 applied to A-D lines for all indices and to the Nasdaq and to the NYSE exchanges when using:
%B and Bollinger Bands and Bandwidth
because this setting package actually worked for identifying potential A-D line reversal timing , with the emphasis on potential reversal. The settings work for trend maintenance identification. You can see my very brief explanation for trend maintenance identification and trend reversal identification I composed several years ago and Glen posted as a stickie at his board -
March 2016 was the date of this post, though I had been using the customized settings for some years before
FYI - I have made a point since that date to post replies to this starting post which update only on occasion my intermediate term or near term trading bias rationale changes, so a long thread exists using that single post as the start
I have personally posted 97 replies to this starter post at Glen's board with the most recent post dated June 30, 2018
