Being the pioneers in medical cannabis R&D, the co founders, Guy and Whittle (he died this year at age 84), tell us something of the future of medical cannabis in the 21st century. The company operates two secret grow facilities in England that produce 20 tons of plants a year. These plants are clones of a plant developed by a Dutch breeder. They contain high percent of CBD compounds and a low percent of THC. Smoking the stuff won't get you high.

The company employs 602 full time people worldwide.

Canada will have legal recreational reefer this year. Medical reefer is already a fact. It is only a matter of time until large pharmaceutical companies set up research facilities in a country where the majority of its citizens have come to terms with the fact people like to get high from reefer and it's useless to threaten them with jail terms and permanent criminal records. The country has managed to survive what could be termed the scourge of America's youth for the past 50 years and done OK for itself.

The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
