The decision the DEA is forced to make puts it between the rock and the hard place.

Fifty years ago, when white middle class kids took to smoking reefer, leaves were transported in dirty bell bottom jean pocket plastic baggies in the Haight District of San Francisco. The stuff probably was smuggled in from Mexico.

The drug is derived from the plant. It has been purified to extract one of the 80 compounds this plant produces. The CBD doesn't get one high. If approved, it's certainly won't be carried around in dirty jean pockets by white middle class kids. Very caring parents will buy it from a pharmacy, carry it home and administer it to young children.

No Mexican drug cartel would be involved in this transaction. No criminal enterprise will be further enriched from the sale. No two bit street dealer will make enough to buy a pack of cigs and a 40. No destruction of youth's moral fiber will occur.

But children afflicted with this syndrome will go on to enjoy a good quality of life by caring, nurturing parents, grateful to the the dedicated people of this company.

If the DEA can't see its way past the idea that all this is is a drug derived from a plant compound then God help its doomed ass.

The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
