I dont personally think DS is for vests at all.



I don't understand why people keep ceding that this is a forgone conclusion due to the elasticity of DS.

No one knows how this material is going to react to a projectile. Not even the military. No woven material on earth has ever had this amount of strength and flexibility coupled into a single quantum structure and been shot at (I doubt they fired anything at the material made by over 1 million spiders in Madagascar).

This is not a flat rubber material. Each fiber will react with the fiber next to it, or the many that cross it. This fiber will have it's own frictional coefficient. Depending on how they weave it, it will have forces pulling on the fiber from either direction.

Kraig Labs has plainly said that they are looking at this material for ballistics protection. we should let these tests run before we start making claims that this material won't be used in vests.
