Head pressure is head pressure. If the pressure increased as the escape point decreased, a pinhole leak would have nearly infinite pressure. The fact that the pressure is constant is why the mythical little Dutch boy could stop the flow of water through the dam with his finger. Blockman’s previous post shed some light on it. They are moving a lot of water.

All the equations for it are probably right on this page. I’ll see if I can work through it some time to see if it makes sense unless somebody else wants to volunteer.
