I'm still lurking!

On top of being absolutely slammed, my boss' wife had a stroke 2 days ago while I was up there working...she had a major one 4 years or so ago which resulted in her ending up with severe aphasia (she speaks gibberish but her brain thinks and hears perfectly normal speech) and right side weakness.

She also has a history of ministrokes and she doesn't want to end up any worse off so she refuses to go to the hospital with hopes if it's a bad enough stroke, she'll just pass away peacefully. She woke up feeling odd and had difficulty walking and slurred speech. My boss just figured it was a mini stroke because she was still talking and doing things, just a bit slower than normal. She sat down in her chair and took a nap. When she woke up, I evaluated her with my kickass Grey's Anatomy/House skills and informed him that I was pretty certain it was either a stroke or a mini stroke. He agreed and said he'd handle it...so I left for home and about 2 minutes later I get a call to come back. She had to use the restroom and couldn't stand up or walk at all. She'd also lost the use of her entire right arm.

Sooo...she still didn't want to go to the hospital but he was beginning to get nervous and said let's get her back to the main house and we'll evaluate her condition there and decide if we should have a rescue squad come get her or not. She got worse on the drive and he had the rescue squad meet us. They rushed her to the hospital and couldn't conclude it was a stroke via CT but assumed it was and recommended a transfer to Dayton. He agreed and she's been there for 2 days now while I've been there with him providing moral support and helping keep her spirits up. Since I lost my mom as a kid, she's kinda been a mother figure for me since they met and we got really close especially over the past few years as I handled much of her home speech therapy.

Anyway...my boss has decided that it's time to get her into an assisted living facility and he's going to fly her down to Florida to be close to her kids, so it's been hectic trying to keep in contact with everyone and visiting her. If you're the praying type, please keep them in your prayers. Getting old is a shitty thing when medical tragedy strikes.
