I should add, I purchased through Fidelity and noted something interesting in my purchase. At first I bid $1.255 and that order was rejected as they only permitted even pennies. I went up to $1.26 which executed immediately, but it actually executed at something like $1.2526, lower than my initial offer which was rejected.

Frankly, I would have gone higher if necessary to get the stock, but we all like to buy for less. My point is that the brokerages do manage stock prices with their trading practices, but small investors don't get the privilege of doing so. If you tried to raise the price at the close by putting in an order that was several cents above the ask, the order would probably fill at no more than the ask, and perhaps below it as mine did as on Fidelity at the time I bought, it was indicated that the bid was $1.25 and the ask was $1.26. My savings would buy me a nice lunch.
