Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. Announces Participation in Pilot Project
Published: June 15, 2018 8:30 a.m. ET
ANNAPOLIS, MD, Jun 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. (usotc:SWET) (the "Company"), the innovator and creator behind the Solar Wind Downdraft Tower structures capable of producing abundant, inexpensive, renewable electricity to meet the world's increasing demand, announced today that it will be participating in and supporting a pilot project to be conducted by Solar Repurposing, LLC. The pilot will demonstrate the principle of retrofitting an abandoned tall smoke stack to repurpose it to create downdraft winds inside the stack which will be compressed and channeled into a wind tunnel.
The owners of the power plant have entered into an agreement with Solar Repurposing, LLC and the Company to assist with the preparation of the stack for the project as well as allowing for its use. Solar Repurposing, LLC with the full support of the Company plans to pursue the abandoned stack repurposing market to convert these abandoned stacks to energy producers. This pilot is designed to demonstrate the physical principle that the evaporative process produces a downdraft of cold air that will fall within an enclosed tower, at predictable wind speeds, that compress the wind into wind tunnels creating higher wind velocities, which can spin one or more turbine(s) and produce electricity. Solar Repurposing, LLC also intends to evaluate the results of the pilot in conjunction with the methods outlined in a recent patent application filed by the Company on June 12, 2018.
