Realstox,
Chuck Grassley is a Senator from Iowa. The reason he is trying to block industrial Hemp is pretty clear in my opinion. First you have to look at Iowa agriculture and what they stand to loose from Hemp.
Example 1.What is the main crop that will be hurt in Iowa?
Iowa ranked as the largest exporter of soybeans ($3.6 billion), pork ($2.0 billion), corn ($1.7 billion), feeds and fodder ($1.0 billion), and processed grain products ($775 million) in the United States.
Corn is correct. And what is it used for?
53 percent or 1.3 billion bushels of Iowa corn goes to ethanol production
Iowa leads the nation in ethanol production, with 39 percent (953 million bushels) of the corn grown in Iowa going to create nearly 30 percent of all American ethanol.
So what danger dose Hemp pose.
The basics: Hemp can provide two types of fuel. 1. Hemp biodiesel – made from the oil of the (pressed) hemp seed. ... Using processes such as gasification, acid hydrolysis and enzymes, hemp can be used to make both ethanol and methanol.
8,000 pounds of hemp seed per acre. When cold-pressed, the 8,000 pounds of hemp seed yield over 300 gallons of hemp seed oil and a byproduct of 6,000 pounds of high protein hemp flour. Seed oils are both a food and a biodiesel fuel
I remember in the 2016 election that corn was a big deal for Iowa voters because of the ethanol. So you can see why he is trying to block it.
