A Serious Question . . .
Much has been said of late concerning the possible NSS problem. I have no doubt that it is a problem; perhaps here with PBLS as well. My question concerns the debate over whether 1) shares thus shorted "ever have to be covered," and 2) any higher authority will ever step in and stop the activity. My Question:
If the shares never have to be covered and no one will ever stop it, then why, as some here suggest, would any news, or any new flood of buyers, or anything else for that matter, stop the NNS??? Good news? New buyers? Massive buying pressure? Just more opporutnity and greater potential for the NNS bunch to sell hundreds of millions (billions? trillions? a google?) of additional shares. "They will then leave us alone?" as some suggest?? Why?? Why would they ever need to stop or "move on" if they never have to cover and no one can stop them.
I don't have the answers. I'm not trying to start an argument. I just dont understand. This can't be a problem with absolutely no solution.
Thoughts???
